Bishop Anderson House and Rush University’s Department of Religion, Health, and Human Values (RHHV) are excited to announce the publication of “[The Pretty Good, Comprehensive-ish] Book of Prayer for Chaplain's [and Scriptures, too]”. Ted. E. Bear and Mortimer are looking forward to some time in the sun on August 8! Barrington Back to School Giving Days is a partnership with St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and the neighboring ecumenical community as well [...]

No car drive too near to his shadow. This man carries the world’s most sensitive cargo but he’s not marked. Nowhere does his jacket say FRAGILE: HANDLE WITH CARE. His ear fills up with breathing. He hears the hum of a boy’s dream deep inside him. We’re not going to be able to live in this world if we’re not willing to do [...]

Jay Risk is surrounded by boxes. Sorting twelve years' worth of files and packing them all is no fun, but Jay takes the experience- which to many (including myself) is a tedious task- and reframes it in true chaplain style: "Going through all these things has been a real walk down memory lane." As he recounts a few memories for me, the most prevalent theme and detail is the way in which Bishop Anderson House's success is in at least some part due to the teamwork of many who dedicate themselves to the work of pastoral care. "People have been [...]
