Operation Bear Hug takes a road trip

Just in time for summer, Operation Bear Hug takes a road trip to St. Michael’s, Barrington to bring warmth and comfort during the Barrington Back to School Vaccination Clinic. The St. Michael’s pastoral care team and alumni will be on hand with soft teddy bears, smiles and a word of encouragement for the young folks who will be getting their back to school immunizations. Ted. E. Bear and Mortimer are looking forward to some time in the sun on August 8!

Barrington Back to School Giving Days is a partnership with St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and the neighboring ecumenical community as well as Barrington Giving Days Organization. The vaccines have been donated and will be open to all young people who are in need of immunization for the start of school.

We are grateful for our many donors to Operation Bear Hug. Bears are shared with folks of all ages who need something soft and comforting to accompany them during a time of crisis. It may be a child at Stroger, an elderly adult at Warren Barr Pavilion, or a grieving staff member at RUSH.  All are touched by your love when they touch the soft fur of a Teddy Bear.

And, later this summer, watch for Operation Bear Hug to open their own Facebook page–Mortimer and Ted E. Bear have some surprises in store.
