Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Special guests made for a very special evening at the 2017 Art of Healing gala. Preston Bradley Hall was filled with 200 generous friends who donated over $80,000 to support Chaplaincy, Education and Wellness/Spirituality at Bishop Anderson House.
Dr. Jay Shannon, CEO of the Cook County Health & Hospitals System congratulated honorees Dr. Kimberly Joseph and The Rev. Carol Reese on their efforts to bring spiritual care to patients at Stroger Hospital. Trauma surgeon Joseph shared her vision for opening a Pastoral Care department at Stroger, saying, “If we cannot heal the spirit, we cannot resuscitate the body.” Rev. Reese thanked mentors and colleagues who have supported her in her journey to bring professional chaplaincy to victims of violence and trauma.
The tributes were followed by a moving song, Every Mother’s Child, written and performed by Chaplain Jim Croegaert. Friends from all over Chicago raised paddles to support the Bishop Anderson House mission:
“Advancing the well-being of individuals and communities where healthcare meets the human spirit.”
