Open to people of all faith traditions, this training equips spiritual care visitors with skills for effectively and competently providing pastoral care to sick, lonely, stressed and grieving people. To be a Spiritual Care Visitor means that a person is trained to share in the responsibility of caring for the elderly, the home-bound, those in hospitals, those with catastrophic illness, the dying, always under the supervision of a faith leader or professional chaplain.
Students are recommended to the program by a clergy or professional chaplain, and in conjunction with that supervisor, determine a field education site for volunteering 2 hours each week during the course.
Tuition is $325.00, and the application fee is $50.00, which covers the cost of the Diocese of Chicago background check. (The application fee is non-refundable. Tuition is non-refundable once the student begins the training.)
