Spiritual Care Week Focus–Caring for Hospital Staff

The work days are long, and the tasks are intense, but everyone at the CORE Center of Cook County gives 110% day after day to ensure the highest quality care for people living with infections diseases. This year, to celebrate National Spiritual Care Week, Bishop Anderson House is partnering with CORE to present “Breathe Deep Day.”

The Rev. Laurie Michaels will present deep relaxation sessions so that everyone from administrative staff to physicians to case workers can take a break and learn a valuable self-care tool to fight burnout. Self care always includes healthy snacks and beverages, and we throw in some aroma therapy and spa music to pamper our beloved CORE colleagues.

The Bishop Anderson House partnership with the CORE Center began in 2014, when Dr. Toyin Adeyemi, physician at CORE/Stroger and Bishop Anderson House board member asked if we could provide Chaplain care to patients in the Project Connect program. Chaplain Jim Croegaert works closely with Project Connect staff to provide spiritual care to hospitalized clients of the CORE Center. We continue to deepen our relationship, and this year have instituted monthly Breathe Deep Days to address stress and burnout in the workplace.

If you are looking for a rewarding and easy volunteer task, please consider helping with a Breathe Deep Day. Contact Ann to join our team.
