One Book, One BAH: Getting Ready for Arthur Kleinman at Rush

In preparation for Dr. Arthur Kleinman’s visit to Rush in February, Bishop Anderson House invites you to read What Really Matters: Living a Moral Life Amidst Uncertainty and Danger. To purchase or borrow a copy from the BAH library, please email Ann Ryba.

Join us on Wednesday, January 28 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm for a wine, cheese, and a discussion of the Kleinman book

This is a great opportunity for graduates of the Lay Chaplain Training Program to gather together and catch up. From 5:30 pm to 6 pm will be a gathering time for BAH graduates and friends, and from 6 pm to 7 pm former Julian intern Sara Lytle will moderate a discussion of Dr. Kleinman’s book.

“What Really Matters chronicles stories of ordinary people and what matters most to them, in normal and extraordinary times. It is a book about moral experience and how individuals and groups come to grips with danger and uncertainty. We tend to think of dangers and uncertainties as anomalies in the continuum of life, or interruptions of unpredictable forces into a largely predictable world. I suggest the contrary: that dangers and uncertainties… make life matter. This is a book about people who, in the midst of such challenges, are trying to live a moral life.”
