Bishop Anderson House and Church Home at Montgomery Place joined forces to offer two elder care workshops in the fall 2014.

The workshops incorporated topics of importance to those caring for an aging parent or partner, as well as those involved in pastoral care for the aging.

On Saturday, September 27, the topic was “Eldercare and the Caregiver: Body, Mind, and Spirit,” featuring Dr. Patricia Murphy of Rush University Medical Center, The Rev. Linda Green of Bishop Anderson House and The Rev. Nancy Meyer.  Subject matter included Spirituality at the End of Life, Nonverbal and Verbal Communication with the Elderly, and Care Giving at Home.

Saturday, October 11 focused on  “Death and Dying:  Honest Dialogue about a Taboo Topic.” The Rev. Jay Risk of Bishop Anderson House, The Rev. Julianne Buenting of The Church Home and Susan Nathan, MD addressed Grief, Loss and Resiliency; Advance Directives and more; and Palliative and Hospice Care.
